Violin, 2024 - Gasparo ds Salo “Kux” model  

Completed in 2024, this violin is modelled after the Gasparo da Salò “Kux”, an instrument celebrated for its bold arching, powerful tonal presence, and distinctive Brescian character.

Rod Ward’s interpretation pays homage to the rich tradition of Gasparo’s 16th-century craftsmanship while refining the model for the demands of the modern performer. The instrument is constructed from finely seasoned spruce and maple — selected for their acoustic responsiveness and visual beauty — and finished with Rod’s hand-prepared oil varnish, a warm amber-red that highlights the natural flame of the wood.
